The purpose of HAU is to honorably serve the needs of the community in the Horn of Africa by offering education and knowledge of superior quality in all fields of studies we offer with our dedicated instructors and using the modern classroom teaching equipments and facilities at fair fees to the students for insuring financial stability, growth and further improvements. In doing so, we promote moral support to our staff by giving them remuneration and benefits that commensurate to their contribution to the university expectations.
Main Objectives:
HAU was established after seeing the great unsatisfied societal needs of higher education.
HAU intends to provide an opportunity to every Somali citizen to acquire higher education with high quality.
The main objectives of HAU are:
- To produce qualified students in comparison to the international standard level.
- To provide higher education at a reasonable price to the students.
- To change the traditional teacher centered method to participatory student centered approach of teaching.
- To promote a sense of practicable learning rather than theory base one.
- To carry out useful researches, and training programs that can lead to social and economic developments for the community.
Admission Requirements
The minimum requirement to any student who is going to join Horn of Africa University is as follows:
- Should bring the original and copy of the secondary certificate school leaving.
- Birth certificate and conduct letter
- File or folder
- Should bring eight (8) color, passport sized photos
- Application letter
- Should pay Registration fee ($30 which will be deposited at Dahabshiil account # 8434)
Below are shorter courses you can take to receive a certificate, diploma, or an associate diploma, Courses may include:
"JJ, one of my co workers at the florist, is from the war-torn Somali capital of Mogadishu. It turns out he attended HAU several years ago. I asked why if he had a college degree was he working as a clerk here in the US. Well, he was so grateful he was able to not only get to the US, but also get work in the US. He's a very valuable employee. He built our website and coded the office management software - all skills he taught himself. It's a difficult transition moving from Mogadishu to the US. Everything is so different. Yet this worker is thriving here and has become indispensable. The owner was arrested for a DUI last year and the news reporting on it hit the local papers and Google. A search for the florist showed the DUI on page one of Google. Embarrassed and concerned for his business the owner started contacting online reputation management services. They all claimed they would be successful at removing negative search results if he hired them. They were all too expensive. To keep a bad result off of Google's page one could cost over $1,500 a month after a $3,000 account set up fee. JJ did a search and came up with one specialist who exclusively handled search removals, but even though they were less than the reputation services, they were still too expensive. But JJ read about how the removals were achieved, basically pointing links to other sites, search optimizing them, causing them to outrank the problem, pushing it off Google's page 1. Then he set out to replicate that strategy. It took him 6 months, but he actually succeeded. That DUI report is now on page 3. IMO, he will be managing this business before long." Loretta Peterson
